What families are saying

We’ve gathered and summarized real family reviews from across the internet for you. Contact a CareScout representative for details.

Reviews of The Kensington in Cumberland are overwhelmingly positive, emphasizing compassionate staff, resident safety, and a welcoming community. Families repeatedly describe employees as kind, patient, attentive, proactive, and genuinely caring. Many say staff members learn residents’ names, preferences, and needs quickly, treating them like family. Several reviewers specifically praise Maranda/Miranda and Becky for providing thoughtful tours, clear information, ongoing communication, and assistance during difficult placement decisions. Residents appear to benefit from numerous activities and social opportunities, including music, entertainment, crafts, games, book clubs, Bible study, shopping trips, mystery tours, transportation, and outings. Reviewers note that staff make an effort to accommodate varied interests and that residents frequently seem happy, engaged, and welcoming toward newcomers. Dining is also commonly praised, with comments describing meals as excellent, delicious, and personalized to individual likes and dislikes. Housekeeping and care aides receive positive recognition as well. Families value the facility’s reasonable cost, convenience, cleanliness, and the peace of mind it provides. Several long-term residents are described as safe, content, and well cared for, including during challenging periods such as the COVID-19 pandemic or bereavement. The Virtual Dementia Experience was especially impactful, increasing one reviewer’s empathy and understanding of dementia. The Kensington is housed in a historic, more than century-old building that reviewers find charming, attractive, and well maintained, though some mention small rooms, older elevators, and occasional maintenance needs. One resident reportedly disliked some meals due to dietary restrictions. Overall, reviewers strongly recommend The Kensington for its caring culture, activities, good value, and supportive environment for seniors and their families.

I am so thankful to have my stepfather at Sagebrook. The staff are very friendly and helpful the facility is beautiful and I feel at home there. The food is great, the courtyard is lovely, and everybody smiles all around. During this pandemic especially, I am so relieved that he is in such a safe and caring environment.

This assisted living and memory care facility is located near Masonic and Geary next to the Kaiser Hospital on Geary. It was an older hospital that was converted into an assisted living facility. New management company has recently taken over.

The new management team at the property is great and has done a lot to improve the community. The rooms are large and the staff is friendly and they have a concierge to help with things like reservations or appointments. They also have a connection to Watermark University to offer classes and such.. Chef Jose does a great job with the food - plus you're right in the middle of San Francisco so when you get bored, you have options. We're very happy here!

I recently toured the property. It was an older hospital that has been updated into an assisted living community. The rooms are big and the staff were friendly. There is a huge garden in the middle of the building which is really nice.
