What families are saying

We’ve gathered and summarized real family reviews from across the internet for you. Contact a CareScout representative for details.

The reviews for Elegance Berkeley present a mixed picture of the assisted living facility. Many reviewers praise the community for its warm and inviting atmosphere, beautiful physical space, and dedicated staff. Positive experiences highlight the seamless transition process facilitated by staff members like Molly Gleason-Kodama and Robert Coe, as well as the engaging activities and excellent care provided to residents. The facility is described as having a vibrant environment with activities such as live music, art, and social hours, which residents enjoy. However, there are significant concerns raised by some reviewers. Issues include high staff turnover, inadequate training, and poor communication with families. Some residents experienced neglect, such as not being taken to meals due to understaffing, and there were reports of questionable billing practices. A few reviewers mentioned falsified medical records and inadequate adherence to care plans, leading to health complications for residents. Housekeeping and laundry services were also criticized, with reports of unclean rooms and lost clothing items. Despite these challenges, some reviewers noted improvements with new leadership and staff, although concerns about stability and consistency in care remain. Overall, while many families appreciate the care and environment at Elegance Berkeley, others advise caution due to management and staffing issues. The facility's potential is recognized, but ongoing improvements are needed to ensure consistent, high-quality care for all residents.

After moving my mother here, into Assisted living, they almost immediately insisted she needed to move into Memory Care. - that is an entirely different thread. While under the care of Elegance, my mother degraded significantly - resulting in me filing complaints with the CA DSS . CA DSS substantiated 8 of my complaints against Elegance. While it took 1 year to get these complaints investigated by the state, it has finally concluded recently. I moved my mother out of Elegance 10months ago fortunately. I am happy to share my experiences with anyone considering moving into Elegance of Berkeley and I can share the things you should look out for. I have quite a few pictures - of the poor care she received under Elegance’s care - things a daughter should never have to see their parent subjected to. Think twice about moving your loved one into Elegance. And I expect Elegance to respond to this saying that they have new staff and leadership, I can inform you that even under the new staff and

My mother was one of the first residents of Elegance Berkeley when it opened in Fall 2022, and I'm posting this review because I used to tell people how great it was. Unfortunately, there has been constant churn of personnel from the Executive Director to the staff level, replacing a management team that was warm, welcoming and communicative with a team that does not communicate well with families, engages in questionable billing practices, has high turnover/gaps in coverage of key roles, and does not resolve problems. The caregivers have been great, but many of them have now left. My mother was sometimes left in her room at meal times because there were not enough staff to bring her to the dining room, despite paying handsomely for that service. Yes, the building is new and pretty, but I would advise new families to keep looking elsewhere if they want stable care for their loved ones, and a responsive management structure.

Wimbledon Walnut Creek Care Home — Community Description At Wimbledon Walnut Creek Care Home, we believe that exceptional care begins with treating every resident like family. Nestled in a warm, home-style setting at "727 Wimbledon Road in Walnut Creek, California", our licensed residential care facility (RCFE License #07-920-1344) offers six private bedrooms and around-the-clock personalized care for seniors aged 60 and older. A Home, Not a Facility: Unlike large institutional care settings, Wimbledon is intentionally small — and that is exactly our strength. With only six residents, every member of our team knows each resident by name, understands their preferences, and is genuinely invested in their daily happiness and wellbeing. Our residents are celebrated, cherished, and deeply connected to the people around them. Expanding a Proven Model of Care Wimbledon Walnut Creek is our second location, expanding from our established and trusted care home in Reno, Nevada. The same compassionate philosophy, the same high standards, and the same dedication to excellence that made our first home successful now serve the families of Walnut Creek and the greater Contra Costa County community. Specialized Care for Complex Needs We are licensed and experienced in caring for residents with a wide range of needs, including: Memory care & dementia — We create calm, structured, and reassuring environments that support residents living with Alzheimer's and all stages of dementia Assisted living — Hands-on help with bathing, dressing, grooming, transferring, and all activities of daily living Non-ambulatory & bedridden care — Skilled, compassionate support for residents with significant mobility limitations Hospice care — Dignified, comfort-focused care coordinated with hospice providers Medication management — Careful oversight and administration of all medications 24-hour supervision — A dedicated caregiver is always present, day and night Nourishing the Body & the Spirit: Our residents enjoy three freshly prepared, home-cooked meals every day, thoughtfully designed to be both nutritious and delicious. We believe that good food is an act of love, and mealtimes at Wimbledon are warm, social, and something to look forward to. Fresh fruit, wholesome snacks, and hydration are offered throughout the day. We also support residents in staying as active and engaged as possible — from gentle exercises and physical therapy coordination to activities designed to stimulate the mind, encourage social connection, and bring joy to every day. What Families Say: Families who have trusted us with their loved ones describe Wimbledon as a place where residents genuinely thrive — gaining back mobility, regaining healthy weight, becoming more talkative and lively, and receiving a level of individual attention that larger facilities simply cannot match. Our care team has been recognized by physicians, physical therapists, and hospice professionals in the area for the quality and compassion of the care we provide. Conveniently Located in Walnut Creek: Our home is ideally situated minutes from Rossmoor, John Muir Medical Center, and Kaiser Permanente Walnut Creek, ensuring seamless coordination with your loved one's existing medical team. Transportation assistance is available for medical appointments. Let's Talk: We invite you to call us, visit in person, and meet our team.
