"Mom and Dad have made their home at the Athenian Village for the past two years. When my sister and I began looking for Assisted Living facilities, we anticipated a long search. The Athenian was the second place we visited, and we quickly realized our search was over. It doesn't have that "hospital" or "institution" vibe at all. Rather, the dining room feels more like a family restaurant. The food is excellent, with a daily menu. My Mom, who is a very picky eater loves the fact that there is always an alternate menu selection. She really loves ice cream, too! Their little apartment is amazing, complete with a small kitchenette. Athenian Village is clean and well maintained. The best part is the team, led by owner Ed Gates is professional, friendly and treats their residents like family. We have been caught up in the bureaucracy of filing for Medicaid for Mom and Veteran's Assistance for Dad for almost two years now. Mr. Gates has been patient, kind and informative as we are navigating these difficult roads. His leadership team includes Rita, Director of Nursing and Administrative Assistant Kathleen. Both of these ladies are outstanding and we look forward to seeing them each time we visit. "Carpets were cleaned throughout bldg., however the stains are back & actually it looks worse than before, personally I think it was $$$ down the drain. Still having a huge problem with staffing as the meals are mostly Buffet & by that I mean, just what's listed on the menu for that meal, so if you don't care for it or if have dietary restrictions your out of luck! We were told approximately 7 wks. ago at least 4 or more severs were hired BUT where are they??? Have seen 1, yes, I know they have to meet certain requirements however this is beyond ridiculous & most residents are fed up with this! Still haven't received a perk I was told I'd get as a new resident over 6 mos. ago, so not holding my breath on that. "We could not be more happy with Vitalia Strongsville. Before moving my in-laws to Vitalia they were at another assisted living in the area which did not compare to the care they have received at Vitalia Strongsville. The employees make it a point to make meaningful connections with the residents and you do not find that everywhere. My father in law was in memory care before he passed and he received great care. The nursing staff was great and always kept us in the loop. When his condition worsened they had their hospice team, Cypress right there to assist our family with end of life care. Vitalia plans fun, family friendly events through out the year for residents and their families. From trick or treating to Easter egg hunts and a Christmas tree lighting with a wonderful dinner and a market with local small businesses so residents can shop without leaving home. "I am so glad my brother lives at Holiday Copley Place. He and all of the family have been so happy with the friendliness of the staff, the services he receives, the cleanliness of the community, and the good food. The management and staff are always trying to be accommodating in every way possible to make the residents feel comfortable and at home.
