"My mom had lived in Marvella’s Memory Care for 15 mo when they forced her to leave because she needed a wheelchair. While moving my mom's belongings out of her room, I discovered an enormous rodent infestation. There was solid sheet of droppings under the cushions of her couch. Much of the interior fabric was eaten away. There were droppings inside my mom's bed frame and along her headboard. The infestation created a serious health risk to my mom as well as other residents. Hantavirus is contracted by breathing air contaminated with rodent feces. It can be fatal. After my mom left, Marvella informed me they kept her damage deposit because there was damage to her carpet. There was a blood stain where my mom fell and hit her head. Marvella’s policy must be that Memory Care residents are required to clean up their own biohazardous fluids. "The memory aids seem to talk alot to each other and are not concerned with what is on the TV. They seem to use the TV as a 'babysitter' . Also the aids are very defensive and kind of mouthy when called out on anything. Other staff stops in just to talk to people on duty and have been known to use 4 letter words and talk loudly. The staff seem to do well with activities but the aids don't seem to care or follow thru with the care. I was told by one aid that it wasn't her job to change the channel on the TV when I said that TV was showing something inappropriate. (third time mentioning inappopriate TV) That it was the responsiblity of the person who just finished interacting with the residents. Remember I said mouthy? The staff seem to want better than the untrained aids are giving.
