"I recently visited St. Mary's Woods and really liked what I saw. We are not ready to move yet so just information gathering, but it's good to see a variety of community types. "I am so thankful that we chose Sunrise Villa Tuckahoe for my parents' care. Every aspect of the experience has been wonderful - from the staff to the activities, my parents feel safe and loved. Even during the worst of times with COVID, the staff were supportive and understanding while following protocol. My father recently passed away, and I can't thank them enough for all they did for us during this time. The whole staff is amazing and deeply caring, always taking extra steps to make sure my parents were comfortable. We feel really fortunate to have found such a great place."…

"I took my mother out of the memory care unit due to the lack of care. Management is non-responsive to complaints and threaten to kick the resident out if they continue to complain. These complaints are justified in that it involves, medication mis-management, hygiene concerns and residents left unattended. There is a high turnover in staff and the staff that is there are not very friendly. When will someone do something about this place. It looks good when you walk in but if you stay a while you will see that it isn't what it looks like. SHAME ON YOU FOR NOT TAKING CARE OF OUR LOVED ONE." - Nick…

"I was a patient at the facility for about 6 weeks and I must say I found conditions deplorable. This is an institution that has a 194 bed capacity yet during the time I spent they ran out of bed linen on a regular basis so much so that on several occasions Iwas unable to lay down because they couldn't make the bed. Additionally they also even more frequently ran out of towels and washcloths and at the best of times they were rationed. There were other items of basic care that were lacking especially larger size adult diapers and a deficit of cleansing wipes which was an additional problems with the lack of washcloths etc. Patient care was haphazard. If you rang the call bell it might be answered in a few minutes or two hours later, even if answered within a reasonable time their might still be a substantial time for your request to be honoured whether it was as simple as a glass oh water or as important as pain medication or to cleaned up after a bowel movement. Dont go there!!!!" - Ellen…

"I would NOT recommend Harmony. We moved my mother-in-law into Harmony in February 2026. The facility is clean and inviting, and the staff is very friendly. We were genuinely impressed with our initial visits. Within a month we had moved her in, and the honeymoon was over. For us, the negatives far outweigh the positives. Poor communication and lack of accountability from management top the list. She was there for over a month before she received her first assisted bath. After complaining for weeks, we met with management. We were told that this would be resolved. A week later, we discovered they "resolved" it by moving her into a more expensive care bracket (without our knowledge). When confronted, we were told that she did not initially ask for any assistance. This, of course, is not true, but I wonder why she would be approved for ASSISTED living, if she didn't require assistance. I have reached out to upper management, but they have shown little interest in hearing my concerns." - Dawn…

"Disheartening Experience with Chestnut Grove Memory Care We had a relatively brief stay at Chestnut Hills, but unfortunately, it was a deeply disheartening experience that raised serious concerns about the overall quality of care provided. Our family member, a Stage 2 Alzheimer’s patient, was transferred from a hospital to Chestnut Hills' memory care unit. From the start, we clearly communicated potential health concerns and were assured by the facility director that monitoring and preventative steps would be taken. Unfortunately, those assurances did not translate into action. Over the course of just 10 days, our loved one went from walking the halls unassisted to requiring a wheelchair. Most concerning was that no staff member raised any red flags about this obvious and rapid physical decline. It wasn’t until we followed up with the facility director that we discovered the medical testing—promised as a precaution against exactly this kind of deterioration—had never been done." - Kathryn…

The figures below show the average monthly starting costs for assisted living of nearby cities. Keep in mind that these figures are an average, and that the numbers used to calculate it spanned a wide range. In fact, CareScout data suggests that most families will underestimate their monthly budget by almost 20%, meaning that once inclusions and services are factored in, they can actually afford more than they originally thought.
