"Paul Spring is a nice place. The activities for the residents are very enjoyable. Whether it’s arts and crafts activity, exercise classes, special outings, or social events. They also have a program where they offer free lecture classes to the residents and some are open to the public. It’s called RUI university. I believe that’s a great program that from defers from other assistant/independent/memory care communities." - Tilly…

"Elance at West End offers so much more than other senior communities I've visited. Their robust activity programming is truly impressive, and I especially love their lifelong learning classes. What's even better is that these classes are available to both residents and the public at no cost! One of my favorite activities is the paint and sip. The community also boasts a beautiful terrace and a fantastic movie theater. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I've visited other RUI properties, and Elance at West End is definitely one of my favorites!" - Rose…

"The Fairfax is a retirement community that offers many opportunities for social activities and leadership positions. The beautiful grounds are well-cared for, and the staff is very polite. "My mother moved to The Goodwin House in Alexandria a few years after my father passed away. She absolutely loved it. She had a sunny one-bedroom apartment, and she participated in a number of activities and classes that were offered. She made new friends and enjoyed delicious dinners and, often, musical programs in the evenings. When her health declined and she had to move onto the healthcare unit, I knew she would be well cared for. I was only three hours away and could visit her often. I am so grateful to everyone on the staff for the delicious meals, interesting activities and local trips, and the wonderful care they took of my mom. Everyone was professional, yet compassionate and thoughtful" - Sue…

"My father lived at Sunrise of Arlington for the last 4 months of his life. I really wanted to give Sunrise the highest marks because the front-line staff who do the daily caretaking of residents are very kind and compassionate, and I think they do a very difficult job about as well as could be expected. I was very touched by their kindness at times. An organization is only as strong as its weakest link, however, and given our experience with the director of medical care there, I cannot recommend Sunrise. The lack of compassion and even professionalism made the final weeks of my father's life and the experience of his death much harder for him and the family than it needed to be. At the time of our greatest distress, the medical director responded to our needs and concerns with callous indifference. When choosing Sunrise for dad, I was focused on daily living questions but it turns out, the medical director is by far the most important position there." - Sam…

"I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Their memory care unit is not the best place around. They have a hard time convincing the memory care patients to quit packing their bags thinking they are going home. Some of the new residents all think they will be going home. and, this staff has a hard time convincing them that their relatives have dumped them there to be there the rest of their life. Not a particularly good place" - anonymous…
