The Bristal At Westbury

From $4,000/mo

117 Post Avenue, Westbury, NY, 11590
Assisted Living, Memory Care, Independent Living

"Unfortunately my mom’s stay at this assisted living was only a few months long. There were too many issues with the medical /wellness managment which impacted the quality of care my mom received. I was extremely disappointed and surprised that there would be such a difference in the quality of care depending on which Bristal you chose. The peace of mind that comes from knowing we could trust this facility to take proper care of my mom just wasn’t there. I felt required to be there on a daily basis to ensure they were doing what was supposed to be done. Very stressful ! After many many discussions with the Wellness Managment asking them to do what was needed to meet my moms medical and daily care needs, none of which were particularly difficult or unusual, I had to accept the fact that they were just indifferent and unwilling care for my mom properly. I moved her to the N. Woodmere Bristal and the difference in quality of care is tremendous. They take wonderful care of her." - J…

Assisted Living, Memory Care

"Review I toured this home the first week of August. My 84-year-old dad is in rehab in Rye, and I wanted to learn more about the Enhanced License and hospice care, as my dad seems to be heading in that direction. Unfortunately the sales representative wasn't very informative. She spent much of the tour talking about the property and beautiful gardens, but I wasn't able to get the information I needed about care and services. Two weeks later, my questions about hospice still haven't been answered. I will say the grounds were very well maintained, and the residents we saw seemed happy. At the end of the tour, we were given a bottle of liquor, possibly champagne. I explained that my husband and I are both in recovery and couldn't accept it, but they insisted anyway. I would suggest offering chocolates or a baked good instead. Overall, my recommendation is to have better-informed tour representatives who can answer families' important questions." - Maria…

"This review is only for the reflections/memory care unit. My father was in the unit for a year and a half. The unit is under staffed and completely overwhelmed, and cannot handle many behaviors associated with dementia. He was sent to the ER almost 10 times in that year and a half because of agitation and yelling/aggression. The staff was not trained in how to handle this common symptom of dementia, even though we were told when we signed up that they could. They do not bring the residents outside of the unit for activities, again like they told us they would. So many of my father’s clothes and shoes went missing. Hundreds of dollars of items, gone. Many of the residents, including my father, needed a private aid because the care was that lacking. Please do not entrust your loved one with this staff. Look elsewhere." - Danielle…
