"This (expensive) life-care facility is terrible. My parent has been there for about ten years. They are unable to accommodate even a common dietary restriction (gluten-free) with any consistency. Their staff is so poorly paid that the turnover rate is astounding. They are constantly short of staff and Ascension (old name is Alexian) just deflects by saying it's hard to get people, when in reality they just don't pay enough to retain good employees. There are a few nurses in Assisted Living who are truly exceptional, but they are so overworked and underpaid, I honestly don't know why they stay. Alexian's staffing inadequacies are so bad that they regularly bring in temps to do things like give showers, which should only ever be given by staff that the residents know and feel comfortable with. Poorly run, poorly managed. No one in admin. ever even answers the phone! Food service and quality is marginal at best. "My sister has been here for five months. To me, it’s been a really great experience. The rehab facility is one of the best. They show caring and compassion for their residents. The four people she worked with were Jason, Hannah, Edwena, and Tanisha. The activities department, led by Shannon Hughey and her assistant Jacob, does an outstanding job with the residents. "PSA….Please never ever leave someone you care about in this place. No family should ever have to go through what ours did because of their complete and utter lack of care! On October 18, 2021 they knowingly admitted a COVID-19 positive patient in their facility. Then they locked down the entire facility so none of their current patients could have visitors. A week without seeing their loved ones because of their complete incompetence. One week later on October 25, 2021, I picked my mom up to take her to a doctors appointment. They rolled her down in a wheelchair (keep in mind she walked into that place two weeks earlier) and I took one look at her and knew she would be going straight to the ER. They didn’t even put shoes on her feet, just those dreadful socks! I took her to the ER and she was in severe sepsis. I held her hand until she took her last breath.
