"We looked at this home for my husband’s aunt, Connie was fabulous, very knowledgeable and welcoming, we heard she’s no longer there which is sad for those who remain. During the tour, we couldn’t help notice how unprofessional much of the staff was, they appeared argumentative & observed many sitting around and not interacting with other residents, also short staffed for the size of the building. The interior was tired, desperately in need of refresh. We also heard many complaints about food. The ED seemed flustered and the sales person was not of the professional caliber we’re used to. Activities appeared nonexistent, especially in the memory care. In the end we decided to go elsewhere. A shame as the location has much potential, they just don’t have the team it make it happen. Dealing with the disease firsthand, Michael witnessed the limited availability of quality services and care dedicated to a rapidly growing population of elderly adults with Alzheimer's and other dementias. Michael's passion for establishing an Alzheimer's center of excellence grew daily as the family watched 'virtually helpless' as their father suffered for more than 11 years, finally succumbing to the disease in November of 2006. Throughout Abe's battle with Alzheimer's, the idea for Abe's Garden Memory Support Center of Excellence began to take root. The dramatic need for a community whose heart and soul would be centered on caring for those sharing the same fate as Abe became clearer with each passing day.
