"My husband and I moved into Sunrise of Webster Groves six weeks ago and the staff is exceptional. I have ALS and need a lot of help. Elaine, my day shift care taker and Tori, my evening shift care taker, are very attentive, making sure all my needs are met. In all they do, whether getting me out of bed, dressing me or changing me, they take their time to make sure I’m taken care of. They listen and really care about me. The nursing staff is also great. I can talk to Leslie and know that she hears me and she follows up with the house doctor to get me what I need. My husband has health issues and Leslie has spent a lot of time working with him. She cares as does Kathy. Barb and Karen, the event coordinators, really make life fun and have accommodated my needs. Finally, I also have to commend the maintenance staff, including my housekeeper, Tecia. Mike and Robert have helped us in many ways to make us feel at home. Tecia lives by what she says, “whatever it takes”. Super staff!" - Mary…

"Things did not work out well for our Mom at Brookdale West County. After a week at this facility, she is now back in her house with her son and brother to see to her immediate needs. It would have been great to keep her close to home, but the situation was so bad here that future plans involve taking her out of town to be sure that she is getting appropriate care. For anyone looking into Dementia care in West County St Louis, we DO NOT recommend Brookdale. We were with her there most of the time during the week she was there, and staff was inadequate. Activities involving these residents were minimal, and inappropriate. The place is in the middle of administrative transition, and no one was enforcing policies. Residents were suffering as a result. The facility is beautiful, but don't let that fool you. In the end, it is about the staff and the care they do (or in this case do not) provide for your loved one." - Rebecca…

"My mother has been at Cedarhurst of Des Peres for about six weeks now. When we move my mom in, they gave her a little competency test and said that she would be able to take her own medication’s but less than 48 hours later, they said she wasn’t taking them right and took them away from her and added $1700 to our bill for them to administer her meds. They then add $250 a month on top of that for her to use her Pharmacy. My mom very much wanted to use her own because she trust them and she recognizes her meds. They added cost and confusion is causing her a lot of stress. Response to call light is often as much as two hours. She cannot use her bathroom sink have to pay extra for them to help her brush her teeth and clean up. They do not employ the amount of staff that they told us they did. Some staff are very helpful in some are downright rude and unhelpful. We have tried to work with them to make things better, but she is not getting anywhere near the care we were promised." - Mary Ellen…

"I am deeply disappointed with the quality of care at here. The facility is poorly managed, and it is evident that the leadership does not prioritize the well-being of its residents. Daily care is consistently neglected, with residents often left without the necessary assistance and attention they deserve. This lack of care is unacceptable and has caused significant distress among the residents and their families. It is my strong belief that this facility should lose its license until substantial improvements are made. The current state of affairs is not only disheartening but also dangerous for those who rely on this facility for their daily needs. I urge potential residents and their families to look elsewhere for a more compassionate and well-managed environment." - Kelly…

"Concerns about cleanliness are met with excuses. The staff is peasant, but the facility is understaffed for the amount of care these residents are paying for, need, and deserve. Instead of making sure concerns are met with prompt, precise responses that take action to correct the problems, excuses are made, and blame is paced elsewhere. Very disappointed. Residents deserve better." - Fred…

The figures below show the average monthly starting costs for memory care of nearby cities. Keep in mind that these figures are an average, and that the numbers used to calculate it spanned a wide range. In fact, CareScout data suggests that most families will underestimate their monthly budget by almost 20%, meaning that once inclusions and services are factored in, they can actually afford more than they originally thought.
