The way my family and I were treated was very unprofessional and upsetting, especially during such an emotional and difficult time. Before moving my dad in, we were told certain things that gave us confidence in choosing this facility, but after he was there, many of those promises were not followed through with. Changes were made without proper communication or notice, and it felt like our concerns as a family were not being respected or heard. One of the biggest concerns was the pressure we felt to switch my dad to a hospice company that the facility preferred, even though we already had a hospice provider we trusted and wanted to continue with. "We had to find a memory care facility for my sister. Brookdale Union Hills stood out from the initial meeting with Darien. He spent over an hour with my brother and I explaining what the facility offers and asking about my sister and her needs and situation. During the tour we saw residents in living areas, activity room and walking around visiting with each other. Staff were friendly and interactive as well. We moved her in and have not regretted our decision since day 1. She had initial adjustment issues but the staff worked with us daily to ensure her needs were being met and she quickly adjusted. The daily activities are so very good for her and the other residents and give them a range of things to participate in. My sister is their #1 fan of the music entertainment! Residents are enjoying music they can sing and dance to, Bingo, word games and more! The food is very good and chef Luba is to be commended!
