"My 95 year old Mother moved to Independent Living at the Forum in October of 2017 -- wonderful place, very clean, good food, and wonderful people looking after her. It took her a while to adjust but with the help of the excellent staff she settled in quickly. Recently she developed pneumonia and was taken to the hospital. When she was released she was sent to the Forum's medical care unit where she was also treated by an excellent staff. "My mother has been there about 4 years. Was good in the begining but this year trash is rarely emptied and we often took it out after a week and it smelled. Despite being posted it is emptied daily and much discussion with management about it. Laundry is included in the rent to be done weekly, many times it goes 3 weeks or more and I do it. Again have addressed with management and they seem unable or unwilling to correct it. Medication management is being paid for and I found a pill on the carpet on one visit and a few weeks ago 2 doses of pills were sitting around her apartment and no one knew what days they were from. Mom had a bad cough, I pushed her nursing pendant and no one came. Went looking for help and 2 different aids showed their pagers were not registering her pendant. They said it wasn't unusual. "Mission Chateau’s primary focus in independent living. They advertise memory care, but are very selective in who they take and do not have skilled nursing. If you move there with a loved one and eventually need memory care, they will tell you they take only “high functioning” memory care residents. They do not offer continuing life care and at some point your will have to move. If you visit, do your homework on elder care and ask questions. "My mom has lived at Shawnee Hills senior living for about four years now and it’s a nice clean facility. The apartments are decent size. I like that they have someone at the front desk even at night so it feels very safe. Lots of activities to do. They have switched management over the years and have turned some of it into assisted living, the rent started out around 1500 per month and now she is at 2500 per month for a one bedroom apartment!
