"I have been very impressed with Silvergate Rancho Bernardo since my grandfather moved in. It's a totally beautiful facility in San Diego. He seems very active and happy so far, and the staff are great. The food is pretty good, and there are plenty of activities to keep him busy. My my grandmother gone, I wasn't sure how he would adjust but he seems to be doing well so far. "Amazing sprawled community for seniors. We lived here with my in laws for a few days and it is very upscale. Very safe because it is guarded 24/7. Very easy pathways for people who are in wheel chairs. Lots of activities and we say a lot of active people throughout our 5 days there. Our in laws have been living there for almost 9 months and have nothing but nice things to say about this community. Everything is new because it has been only open for a little over a year. The communication with family also is prompt whenever I have a query. They try to get the residents involved in their daily activities that they offer. "I moved a family member into there Memiry Care and moved them out a few months later. The quality of care was not what I was promised and there were multiple mistakes with one loved ones medications which could have resulted in their death. The care giver / resident ratio is very low, no doctors or nurses on site and staff/ med techs seem inexperienced and ill trained. For all of these reasons I can not recommend this community. There are much better communities in San Diego that may be a bit more money. Choose those as your loved ones life is not worth saving a few dollars with this poorly runned community." - J… Read more

"I had a parent at Villa Lorena. My experience with the staff, direct caregivers, med techs, concierge and restaurant was that they were wonderful people. However, the staff nurse who supervised the care staff was not. She oftentimes failed to meet basic needs; for what we paid, I expected my parent to receive services agreed upon in the contract. Regardless of the number of times I reached out to the nurse and her supervisor, the Executive Director, with my concerns, they failed to meet my parents bathing needs, laundry needs, room cleaning needs; the man who cleaned my parent’s room was very unkind and messy. I did not find out how bad it was until my parent had Hospice care. By then it was too late to move my parent. Hospice had a wonderful, knowledgeable nurse who met my parent's needs. Even still, the nurse at VL was dishonest to the point that I had to have outside caregivers come in to take care of my parent 24/7 while still being charged a substantial amount by VL for care." - Diane… Read more
