"As long as Frontier Management manages this property, I would stay away. The building is lovely, and some of the staff are great. However, they've had serious citations for lack of care. The company is all about cutting costs to the point of being unsafe. They put extremely unqualified people at the helm, which is why they can't keep anyone longer than a year. I know placements agents that will not refer here. I've seen residents in wheelchairs forgotten about and left in the bathroom, food poisoning, lots of staff turnover, and they've never had a consistent activities person. They give lip-service to their individualized approach to care via the Spark program. How can you do that with one activities person and sixty residents? They can't keep the place full because people move in, realize how it's run, and move out. It's a terrible company and I hope the owner changes course because it could be an incredible place. Crystal Hovar has been a fantastic sales agent, providing prompt answers to our questions and going above and beyond to meet our needs. She is professional, friendly and knowledgeable. The move-in process was smooth, and everyone has been kind and diligent. The facility itself is beautiful with a full size kitchen, washer/dryer in each apartment, weekly cleaning service and transportation for shopping/doctor appointments. "My husband is in memory care at Frank Residence. I have only praise for this facility. The staff are kind and competent. The environment is both very safe and nurturing. His room and the overall facility is very clean and inviting. In the almost two years that my husband has lived at Frank Residence he has not asked to come home, not once which is a miracle in itself! While my husband's short term memory is poor, he remains articulate and observant. From what I have observed, the activities for memory care residents at Frank are appropriate and inviting. The ratio of staff to residents in memory care is a real plus as I've noticed that residents receive the attention they need and are encouraged to participate in structured activities. The nursing staff are conscientious and tend to error on the side of being overly cautious which I appreciate. "The staff at Westmont Carmel Valley are very attentive, however, the food is a very poor quality. The meat dishes are very tough, and although they provide fresh produce with each meal, it is so undercooked as to be not cooked at all. For example, carrots and beans and broccoli are practically raw when served with your cooked meal. You need a steak knife to cut the carrots so you can eat them. Additionally, no matter what you order for your meal what they bring you is never what you ordered. Then if you send it back to the kitchen to get your actual order, it will be another 30 minutes at least before your correct order comes out again." - K… Read more
