In 1996 the Franke Home moved to its current location – a 42 acre tract within the Seaside Farms planned development in the beautiful town of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina. The new campus initially consisted of Independent Living rental apartments as well as assisted living and memory care residences. In July 2000 Franke at Seaside expanded their facilities to include the Keil Health Care Center, offering private and semi-private suites for skilled nursing and rehabilitation. In 2002, by action of the local advisory board, the Franke Home became known as “Franke at Seaside,” a name reflective of the community’s proximity to the nearby barrier islands and beaches of the Atlantic Ocean. Moreover, the new name represented a new facet to Lutheran Homes’ overall mission – a commitment to serve the growing demographic of “new retirees” of the 21st century – the active adult.
