About Still Hopes

Still Hopes is an Assisted Living community in the Cayce area that also offers Memory Care, Independent Living, Nursing Home, and Continuing Care Retirement Community care.

Our rich history began in the early 1800s when a surveyor, John Gabriel Guignard, was hired to survey the newly established capital city of Columbia. He built a plantation here and named it Still Hopes.

In 1910, Gabriel Alexander Guignard, his son, erected the Victorian mansion that now remains as the focal point of our beautiful community. It wasn’t until just over 50 years later, his daughter, Dr. Jane Bruce Guignard, bequeathed the plantation and its acreage to the Trinity Episcopal Church with a vision for it to serve the area’s seniors. Her vision became a reality in 1977 when the Episcopal Church and a Board of Trustees established the non-profit community we are today.

In 1983, the Guignard Victorian mansion was added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Still Hopes is now the only Episcopal-sponsored, all-inclusive, non-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community in the greater Columbia, South Carolina area serving 400 residents with over 400 staff members for a personalized and compassionate method of care in a warm, inviting, and engaging home.

Since opening, Still Hopes continues to strive for the well-fair and health of the greater community, serving others with our Still Hopes at Home program, Wellness Center open to the public on campus, and much more. Contact us for more information on our community services on campus and beyond. Our Mission

Still Hopes is a well-regarded retirement community offering a range of living options, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and rehabilitation services. Many residents and their families praise the facility for its clean, modern, and well-maintained environment, as well as its wide array of amenities such as a swimming pool, art studio, and chapel. The staff is often described as caring, professional, and attentive, contributing to a positive atmosphere. Residents enjoy various activities, including concerts, classes, and social events, which help foster a sense of community. However, some reviews highlight concerns about social isolation, particularly in the layout of the apartments, which resemble hotel hallways. There are also mixed experiences with the rehabilitation services, with some families reporting inadequate care and communication issues. The cost of living at Still Hopes is noted to be high, and the facility does not accept Medicaid, which can be a barrier for some families. Despite these concerns, many residents and their families express satisfaction with the overall quality of care and the supportive community environment. The facility is particularly praised for its efforts to maintain family connections during the pandemic and for providing excellent care for dementia patients. Overall, Still Hopes is seen as a desirable place for retirement living, though it may not be the perfect fit for everyone.
